LOW SODIUM
PANTRY FAVORITES
Gringo Bandito Hot Sauce
25 mg sodium per teaspoon, medium heat, and really great on tacos. I've bought these from my local Albertsons and Smart & Final stores.
Pepper plant chipotle sauce
25 mg of sodium per teaspoon. This sauce is very mild but it's got a nice sweet/smokey taste that goes really well with a lot of foods. I love over beef stir fry dishes. I bought this at a specialty food store when I was driving through Gilroy, CA but I've also seen it at Whole Foods.
Aplenty Green Serrano hot sauce
30 mg sodium per teaspoon. This is a tomatillo based hot sauce that is a little sweet and has a medium spice level. Pairs well with pork. I found mine at an Amazon Fresh store.
Unsulphured molasses
I use this in a lot of marinades and sauces. Available at most grocery stores.
Nutritional yeast
No salt added frozen hash browns
Available at Whole Foods
Canned water chestnuts and bamboo shoots
Less than 10 mg of sodium per can, these are great in soups or stir fry dishes. Available at most Asian markets, but be sure to check labels because brands will vary
Unsalted potato chips
Available at Whole Foods and Ralphs
No salt added frozen fries
We love these fries! 30 mg of sodium per serving and soooo good. Available at Whole Foods
Balsamic Reduction (no sodium)
This is a thickened, sweetened balsamic vinegar that I love to drizzle on sandwiches or pizza. I buy mine at my local Sprouts supermarket.
Lawry's seasoned pepper
A blend of various black and red peppers, with just a hint of sugar. I love this on potatoes or chicken. There is no sodium and it's available at most major grocery stores.
Unsalted tahini
Use this anywhere you would use peanut butter in a recipe if you need to work around peanut allergies or just like the taste better. Unsalted brands have anywhere from 0-10 mg of sodium for 2 tablespoons.
Fage 2% plain yogurt
55 mg of sodium per 3/4 cup. This is the lowest sodium plain yogurt I've found, I use it mainly in my tzatziki and add honey or fruit for a sweet treat.
Dumpling wrappers
The only packaged dumpling wrappers I've found with no sodium. I've found them at Ranch 99 markets.
Minute rice
Most rice is sodium free but I'm highlighting this rice because it cooks in 5 minutes and has been a staple for all our camping trips! Available at most grocery stores.
Low sodium pita bread
This is the lowest sodium pita bread I've seen, just 55 mg of sodium for a large piece. It is a bit drier and if you toast them even the slighted bit they crisp up more like a cracker. Still a great option and alternative to making your own bread. Found these at my local Sprouts supermarket.
Trader Joe's fruit bars
10 mg of sodium per bar
Corn tortillas
Trader Joe's has a sodium-free corn tortilla chip but if you have a little room for sodium, these have just 40 mg of sodium per serving and they are delicious!
Trader Joe's tangerine cream bars
20 mg of sodium per bar
Trader Joe's non-dairy chocolate oat bars
If chocolate is not a trigger, these are a nice treat at just 25 mg of sodium per bar
Costco almond butter
I didn't even realize this was sodium free when I bought it! Turns out it is. Just one ingredient: whole almonds.
Pepperidge farm double dark chocolate mint Milano cookies
I'm not saying they're healthy, but they do have just 35 mg of sodium for TWO cookies (as long as chocolate is not a trigger of course)
Smokey coconut aminos
160 mg sodium per tablespoon. This is one of the lowest sodium coconut aminos I've seen. I actually don't love coconut aminos, I think it's too sweet, but a lot of people like it as a soy sauce replacement and this is a good option if you do.
Trader Joe's parmigiano reggiano
35 mg of sodium per tablespoon. This has just a little more sodium than nutritional yeast which I really don't love so if you are okay with dairy this is a much better tasting low sodium option.
Zero sodium hard shell tacos from Trader Joe's
